On 16 Feb 2019, 38 participants who qualified in the preliminary stage of Smart urban technology challenge under the domain of Urban Infrastructure gathered together to participate in a thematic session for Urban Infrastructure. The seminar was organized by Smart Urban Technology Challenge, an initiative of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
This thematic sessions was focused mainly on imparting practical knowledge to participants on issues and trends related to the category of Urban Infrastructure and providing expert feedback on ideas taken forward by the teams. This session also was crucial in facilitating connection and networking with experts.
The session started off with the Keynote Presentation from Mr. Arun Pant, Architect/Planner, Design Cell Pvt. Ltd. He shared many useful insights regarding the smart city initiatives around the world. The seminar continued with the panel discussion moderated by Bibhusan Bista, CEO, YoungInnovations.

There was amazing discussion between the expert panelists to help participants understand about different aspects of Urban Infrastructure in KMC. This provided an opportunity to learn about new and emerging concepts related to category. The session also highlighted the concept of ‘Open Data’ and talked about how technology can be harnessed to make data more available and accessible.
